Shooting FAQs

Shooting FAQs

  • Do I need a shotgun certificate to go clay pigeon shooting?

To shoot alone, you must have a shotgun certificate. We must see the original document every time you visit.

However, if you do not hold a certificate, we offer a give it a go session, or full tuition, where you can experience the thrill and excitement of shooting clays, with a member of our team.

  • How old do I have to be to do clay pigeon shooting?

If you are not a licence holder and would like to take part in a give it a go session or full tuition lesson, there is no minimum age, it is entirely up to the instructor if he feels this would be safe to proceed. We usually suggest from age 11 and up.

We do have smaller guns which are used during sessions with younger individuals.

  • Do you offer gun hire?

We do offer gun hire to licence holders, this is from a limited selection of our gun shop.

  • Am I allowed to shoot if I have a criminal record?

It is the requirement of all shooters to comply with Section 21 of the Firearms Act, which prohibits certain individuals from handling a gun. Minor offences are usually of little consequence to going shooting with an instructor, however if you have served a sentence of 3 years or more you will be legally barred from handling any kind of firearm.
